How safe is my-files?
Security is very important to us. We know that the confidentiality of your personal data is crucial. At my-files you are what counts most: It is our goal to protect your privacy and to guarantee the security of your information.

Privacy policy
Your personal data, e.g., your email address, is used strictly on an internal basis and is not passed on to third parties outside my-files GmbH.Of course this also includes the information you supply on the feedback questionnaire.

Protection from unwanted Emails We do not pass on your Email address to third parties outside my-files GmbH, so you are entirely safe from unwanted spam Emails. Even we will only send you information on new services at my-files if you have requested it.

Cookies Cookies are information that is saved on your computer's hard drive by your browser. They make the use of my-files smoother and protect the connection against third parties. None of the cookies my-files uses contain any personal data, so your privacy is protected. In addition, my-files only reads cookies you have saved yourself previously.

Encrypted connection via SSL my-files.com offers encrypted access to the my-files server. The data is transferred using SSL (Secure Socket Layer), a protocol developed specifically for secure data transfer on the Internet. It uses a combination of symmetric and asymmetric encryption processes, offers a high rate of basic security and is supported by both Netscape and Microsoft browsers.

Data storage at the server center Your data is stored in highly secure databases of professionally managed server centres that are not directly accessible through the Internet. Our Web servers control secure access for yourself and visitors defined by you. Our quality control department uses a large number of tests to guarantee that your data is safe from hacker attacks.Of course your my-files data is saved on a regular basis, so in case a server goes down your data is available again to you immediately.

Safety tips Choose a password that contains more than 5 characters and that isn't obvious even to people who know you. Please do not use your own name, that of your spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, child, pet and so on or birthdays under any circumstances.
To create a secure password:
- use extended characters such as '-' or '/' and numbers
- vary capitalised and normal letters
- use a password that contains more than 5 characters
- always keep your password secret.
Never share your password with anyone! my-files employees will never ask you for your password!
Exit the browser when you're done with your work. This doesn't take long and can protect your account from unwanted trespassers. If you use a public terminal (e.g., in an Internet caf³), make sure no one can access your data through information still saved in the browser. This information gets deleted when you exit your browser.
